Cost: All workshops are offered at the special introductory price of $175 per person*

*Cost includes a home visit within 20 mile radius of Alta Vista Center. Travel fees will be assessed for distances exceeding 20 miles.

About Michael Kozlowski

Michael Kozlowski is the Outreach Director for Alta Vista Center. He has a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Framingham State in Massachusetts and Masters in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Counseling from Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii. Michael has worked in the field of autism treatment for over twelve years and has received training and knowledge from many notable sources. He is dedicated to using the knowledge he has gained and expanding it with new and valuable methods of treatment. In addition to his behavioral background, his treatment model includes a family systems therapeutic approach.  His ultimate goal is to find the most effective treatment for every individual and family and organization.

FREE SEMINARS

Introduction to Autism & Treatment – Michael Kozlowski, MSCP

Wed. July 23, 2008 or
Wed. August 27, 2008
6:30 - 8:30 p.m.


This free seminar will give you the opportunity to better understand Autism Spectrum Disorders and their current treatments. You will also receive information on autism groups and resources in the Denver Metro area.

WORKSHOPS

These small, interactive workshops include lecture, activities, tools, and coaching for individual situations. A follow-up home visit is included with all workshops to review and facilitate the newly learned skills. The skills covered in the workshop are appropriate for children of all ages. Workshops are limited to 8 participants on a first come, first serve basis.

Creating & Implementing Activity Schedules – Michael Kozlowski, MSCP

September 2008 :
Tuesdays Sep. 9, 16, 23, 30
Time: 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

This four-week workshop will teach you how to create and implement individual schedules for your child that can lead to greater independence and established routines at home. At the end of the workshop you will have an individual activity schedule to take home and use with your child. A subsequent home visit by Michael Kozlowski will facilitate the use of the schedule at home with your child.

Tackling Challenging Behaviors – Michael Kozlowski, MSCP

Oct/Nov 2008: Tue. Oct. 28, Wed. Nov. 5, Tue. Nov. 11, Tue. Nov. 18
Time: 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

This four- week workshop will teach you how to understand and manage difficult behaviors and replace them with appropriate behaviors, using the science of applied behavior analysis and the skillful use of positive reinforcement. At the end of the workshop you will have individual behavior recommendations for your child. A subsequent home visit by Michael Kozlowski is included to facilitate and troubleshoot the behavioral recommendations at home.

Creating Home-Based Routines – Michael Kozlowski, MSCP

February 2009: Tuesdays 3, 10, 17, 24
Time: 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

This hands-on, four-week workshop will focus on the importance and relevance of fostering optimal independence in daily life activities. At the end of the workshop, each participant will have individualized strategies and support tools that target at least one difficult or important life activity (e.g. eating dinner with the family, dressing). A subsequent home visit by Michael Kozlowski is included to help facilitate these routines in your home.
