Helping out

The Alta Vista Center for Autism is 501(c)3 nonprofit whose annual expenditures on our treatment services substantially exceed income from fees.  We rely on the generosity of donors, as well as grants and volunteers, to help us meet the needs of the growing autism community.

Gifts and Donations

Your contribution makes a difference in the lives of children and families affected by autism.  There are several ways you can help:

  • Contribute:  Alta Vista Center for Autism is a nonprofit organization under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code and your donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.  Online donations through a secure PayPal process can be made at using the Donate Online button below.
  • Wish List:  Purchase or donate funds for the Center programs via our wish list.  You can partially fund any item listed.  Every dollar helps; no donation is too small!

  • Target Visa:  use your Target Redcard and a percentage of your purchases will be donated to the Alta Vista Center.  You can sign up for a Target Redcard or register your Redcard at www.target.com and search for “Take Charge of Education” under the Community tab.  The Center’s school ID number is 123117.

  • Pension Protection Act: New laws permit donors aged 70 ½  or older to make certain tax-free distributions from Traditional and Roth IRAs to qualified charities for a limited time.  Please consult your financial advisor to determine what is best for your situation.

Fundraising and Development

We have a development subcommittee of the board of directors.  The mission of this group is to assist with the Alta Vista Center’s fundraising plans and execution for the year, including special event, grants, marketing, donations or other activities.  Anyone with time and interest to devote to this important effort is welcome.  Time commitment is approximately 5-10 hours/month, though not every month.  Interested individuals should contact Nancy Hill at nhill@altavista-autism.org

Volunteers

The Alta Vista Center welcomes volunteers.  Volunteers are needed to work at all levels on a variety of projects. Please see the our list of current volunteer opportunites. Those wishing to help with our children are asked to make a commitment of a semester or more.  Please contact info@altavista-autism.org for further information.  All volunteers are subject to background and reference checks.

Interns

We are a teaching and training facility who welcomes interns from universities and organizations.  Over the years we have sponsored speech and language interns from the University of Colorado, behavior analysts from the University of North Texas, marketing interns from the University of Denver, and special education teacher interns from Littleton Public School District, among others.  Please contact us at HR@altavista-autism.org if you are interested in further information.
