The School-Age Program: Intensive Treatment
What is the Intensive Treatment Program?
The Intensive Treatment program is a day treatment program for children 6-18 years old who engage in behavior that requires intervention in order to attend public or private school. The primary goal is to provide short term behavioral programming emphasizing skills that will ensure a successful and efficient transition back to his or her school and community environment. We serve children from school districts and families all over Colorado and beyond.
Program description
Each child’s program is based upon individualized goals and objectives and family goals and desires. Particular emphasis involves teaching replacement behaviors that are more adaptive than behaviors already existing in the child’s repertoire. Teaching replacement behaviors ensures each child has the skills needed to transition back to his or her own community. Appropriate academic skills, complex leisure skills leading to sustained periods of independent play, personal independence, community access, and vocational skills are also emphasized.
Functional assessments are conducted and potential replacement behaviors are identified. These replacement behaviors help the child learn more adaptive ways to communicate, decreasing the need for the challenging behaviors.
Schedule
Our Intensive Treatment program is a year-round program that runs from 8:45 am - 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Please refer to our current calendar for specific dates.
